Second Melbourne tournament

The second Tournament organised by Subbuteo Melbourne was organised on Saturday the 29th of June. 9 players attended the event with three players who had not taken part in the inaugural event. Peter Thomas flew down from Canberra providing not only hot competition but great help and advice to newer players.

The tournament was played in a swiss format with 24 games spanning across 6 rounds. 83 goals were scored with many close contests. Rick Piccinilli finished 3rd with 13 points losing only to Carl Young who would go on to finish 1st. But Carl did not have an easy run being held to a 0-0 draw by 2nd place Peter Thomas.

The subbuteo Melbourne club is now gaining momentum and we are looking forward to more events in the future.

Also a special thanks to Rick, Adam, Martin, Luke and Carl for bringing pitches, goals and boards, allowing for a high standard of games.

Semi-final for Gerald Brightwell in Belgium

Gerald Brightwell travelled to Belgium to play the WASPA tournament of Templeuve. Six nations were represented and Gerald was in a great day as he reached the semi-finals after defeating Kevin Cordell (England) in quarter-final. Gerald lost the semi to the final winner, geoffrey marain (Belgium) but that's definately a good performance for him.

The final 4 of the event: Grégory Puissant (France), Paulo Gouveia (Portugal), Geoffrey Marain (Belgium) and Gerald Brightwell (Australia)

Well done Socceroos!

Well done to the Socceroos for qualifying for the soccer world cup 2014 in Brazil. Hopefully this will be a source of inspiration for Soccer... and Subbuteo (!) in Australia.
